    Initial Appointment

❖ In preparation for our first visit, you will receive an in-depth health questionnaire to complete.

❖ During the video appointment, we will review your health history in detail to find important clues like genetic predispositions, environmental exposures, lifestyle factors, and other potential contributors to hormone imbalance or health challenges. I will order any needed imaging or lab work that would be useful to pinpoint any specific health problems (such as nutritional deficiencies, infections, gut health, and hormone levels if needed).

❖ After the visit, I will create a summary of the recommendations we discussed, including lifestyle strategies, medications, supplements, labs, and resources to consider.

❖ Together we will identify your priorities, select strategies that seem right for you at this time, and decide what follow-up and support is needed.

❖ Advise you on screenings and prevention that go beyond the general guidelines, truly tailored to your risk factors and lab results, with the goal of a supporting a long and vibrant health span.

❖ Together we’ll continually evaluate progress and update the plan so that as your body changes, the strategies change too.

You have questions about all the changes in your body and your brain:

  • I feel so different! Is this normal? Am I crazy?  (Hint: you are not crazy.)

  • How can I optimize my health and wellness during this time?

  • What are my options for the treatment of specific symptoms?

  • What is bioidentical hormone therapy? Am I a good candidate for this kind of treatment?

  • Are there other options I should also know about?

  • Nothing’s changing yet, but I want to know what to expect in perimenopause and menopause and how to best prepare.

Menopause is just the beginning!

A decorative illustration of a green leafy branch on a black background.

As a woman in midlife, menopause does not begin to describe the changes you are going through.

The definition of menopause is the moment in time when you have not had a period for one year. But the lack of bleeding (pause of menses) is a much too simplistic way to describe the last 30-50 years of a woman’s life. Let’s not think of this time of your life as a “lack” of anything. It’s chock-full of so much challenge, growth, love, laughter, sorrow, grief, family, friends, community, productivity, creativity, grabbing on, and letting go.

Hormone expert for midlife women Heidi Biegel holds flowers and looks straight ahead.

I’m a Midlife Midwife, guiding women through midlife hormonal and life changes with information, education, and support.

I believe that health and wellness is a journey. Midwife means “with woman,” and as a certified nurse-midwife (CNM), it is my honor to walk WITH you on your path, giving you in-depth information about the changes in your body (and mind and mood!), recommendations (and orders) for lab testing or imaging, and evidence-based options to address perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms as well as their root causes. Together we’ll create a personalized treatment plan based on your unique situation and weave in the best of what conventional and integrative & functional medicine have to offer so that you have a wide range of options to consider as you chart your path through perimenopause and menopause.
